FISP Workshop
This packed, one-day workshop is aimed at those who want to find out how FISP can provide competitive advantage within the furniture supply chain. FIRA has successfully led over 70 companies to gain full compliance to FISP and is also a lead auditor for ISO 14001.
FISP is an excellent marketing tool, as well as a pragmatic approach to ensure that your organisation heeds to a standardised environmental policy – helping to reduce waste, save time and increase profit through providing you with the qualification needed for tendering opportunities.
AGENDA
Understanding The Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme (FISP) – A detailed look at how and why FISP was established and the many benefits for both the furniture industry and its member companies.
How to become Full or Associate member – an explanation of how companies throughout the furniture industry supply chain get involved in the scheme and appropriate membership level.
Full member requirements – The main focus of the workshop will be on how to comply with each of the individual criteria. Using documented case studies to show best practice and evidenced benefits.
- - We will look closely at the core commitments of Environmental Policy and Legal Compliance, demonstrating how to ensure compliance with current legislation, including an overview of the major regulations applicable to our industry
- - The workshop also considers how to monitor and manage waste, energy, packaging and transport within your business. These tips and advice will allow you to benefit from cost savings and environmental improvements
- - During the day we establish how to ensure sound ethical procurement and supplier assessment, including sustainable timber procurement.
- - Air and water management is assessed for manufacturers to ensure compliance with any permits or consents and the record of emissions required. We will also look at the increasing problematic issue of dealing with end of life furniture.
- - The workshop also details how to meet the criteria on the social and economic topics. This includes managing nuisance complaints, working with your local community, improving the skills of your workforce and ensuring that all ethical and equality opportunities procedures are endorsed within your business for the benefit of your staff. Embracing the above topics will ensure that your business will remain and become more competitive and sustainable over the forthcoming years.
The FISP annual report is also discussed and this will give your business the chance to benchmark yourself against others in the industry.
