Professional Affiliations
Integrity and independence have always been the cornerstones upon which The Furniture Ombudsman has been built.
This foundation is strengthened by the relationships we have with a number of other organisations., either directly or through our professionally qualified staff.
Officially recognised by The European Commission as a ADR scheme in the UK, TFO is referenced on the Consumer Direct website which is a division of The Office of Fair Trading. It is also an associate member of The British and Irish Ombudsman Association, corporate affiliate members of The Trading Standards Institute and it maintains links with The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) through its adjudicators who are professionally qualified by them.
A cross section of our adjudications are reviewed periodically by an Independent Standards Board whose role is to ensure our decisions are both fair and reasonable. The Standards Board is chaired by a senior Trading Standards official who sits alongside other individuals representing the consumer and the industry.
