FIRA sponsors Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Furnishing Industry Trust
FIRA is sponsoring a team from the furniture industry in its quest to raise £5000 for the Furnishing Industry Trust (FIT). Andy Corbett, business manager of Prima Foam, has organised a team to undertake the Three Peaks Challenge, taking place on 12 September 2010.
The team comprises Charlie Kerrigan from FIT, Chris Robson from Multiyork, Shaun Rumball and Andy Corbett from Prima Foam. Together they will climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in the space of 24 hours to raise money for the charity.
FIT is an independent charity enhancing the lives of those who are working, or have worked, in the furnishing industry and who are now facing financial hardship or a personal crisis. It provides grants for desperately needed one-off items and weekly grants for individuals, couples and their families. The help provided can transform lives.
FIRA is sponsoring the team with £250 to support the effort.
"I am delighted to be able to sponsor Andy and Shaun from Prima Foam in their Three Peaks challenge," said Jonny Westbrooke, chief operating officer of FIRA. "Andy has been a member of the FIRA council since September 2006, and FIRA is a strong supporter of FIT."
Andy Corbett, the team leader, said: "In March I jokingly said to the other guys we should do the Three Peaks for FIT. When they all agreed what a good idea it was I realised that some thoughts are best kept to yourself!
"We've been training hard since then and personally I've never been fitter and more up for the challenge. We have been very fortunate that FIRA and our parent company Vita Cellular Foams, along with many others, have been so supportive in sponsoring our team. FIT works tirelessly to enhance the lives of people from within our Industry and we always support them in any way we can."
