FIEC appoints a new chairman
The Furniture Industry Environment Committee (FIEC) have appointed FIRA's environment consultant, Matt Butcher, as their new chairman.
FIEC is the focal point for all environmental and sustainability issues for the furniture industry. The committee comprises members from across the furniture supply chain and offers leadership and guidance in all things green. FIEC was instrumental in developing the Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme (FISP) - the key mark of sustainable supply for the furniture industry.
Matt Butcher said: "I am honoured to be appointed as chair of the committee. The environment and sustainability issues will continue to gain importance, and I hope that the committee can continue to guide the industry through the increasing myriad of green issues facing it. It can be confusing, time-consuming and expensive to understand what are the key issues that need to be addressed, and that is where FIEC can be of most use - identifying the areas that need to be tackled, and offering an industry-wide perspective."
