FIRA
The Furniture Industry Research Association was established over 60 years ago by the furniture industry for the industry.
FIRA International provides a wide range of independent expert services that are not only dedicated to the global furniture supply chain, but also to furniture consumers, and continues safeguarding the industry through managing the Association's membership activity.
Furniture Testing
Furniture testing remains a core part of FIRA's business, as you would expect from a pioneering organisation. Our world-renowned test laboratories undertake a wide range of tests and have pioneered many of the test methods which form the basis of furniture standards today.

FIRA Service Technicians

The Furniture Ombudsman
The Furniture Ombudsman (TFO) is an independent organisation which specialises in providing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and customer service support solutions for its members who span the furniture, home improvement and floor coverings industries.
It aims to raise the standard of customer service in the furniture industry through a Code of Conduct. Members of TFO offer an extra reassurance to their customers and demonstrate their commitment to providing a quality service.

The Furniture Industry Research Association is a truly unique, not for profit organisation that represents the whole of the UK furniture industry. Consultancy, research and expert witness services are another big part of FIRA's work; for example, helping companies achieve environmental management standards such as ISO 14001; to become members of FISP (Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme); in ergonomic design; and - as acknowledged experts in furniture - in court cases.
